Muhammad Zidan is a 60-year-old third-generation farmer who has braced himself through erratic weather patterns and lack of capital or infrastructural support to produce only a few kilograms of this lot. His diligent care, infectious smile and hope are second to none, and his principled craft compels him only to grow organic coffee.
This is the winning lot from Best of Yemen 2023, and comes from the water-starved village of Bani Ofair amidst the Ans belt of Yemen, where coffee farming has been practiced over centuries and generations Leading with zingy acidity, a heavy and creamy body, and lingering sweet aftertaste – each sip is a pinnacle of the best Yemeni coffee of this day and age.
