A rectangular zip pouch in black fabric, decorated with red knotted embroidery and vertical white detailing, accented with small gold-toned sequins. The repeating pattern draws on traditional Yemeni stitches, motifs and colour palettes, while a soft grey tassel adds a delicate finishing touch.

This hand-embroidered pouch was made by Rodayna, a young participant in YENOF’s education and embroidery programme. After first enrolling in school through YENOF with her sister, Rodayna learned embroidery during after-school hours and holidays, developing skills that support both her education and personal growth. In 2025, she also took part in YENOF’s embroidery preservation project, helping celebrate Yemen’s rich and living cultural heritage.

About The Yemen Noor Foundation

YENOF, the Yemen Noor Foundation, supports women and children from extremely low-income families in Yemen through education and craft-based income programmes.These hand-embroidered pieces are made by women participating in YENOF’s embroidery programme, established in 2013, which helps mothers learn new skills and earn an income while supporting children to remain in education. Since its founding, YENOF has provided education to over 500 women and helped facilitate schooling for more than 3,500 children.
